Steckbeck Engineering & Surveying, Inc. has been performing Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments, Wetland Delineators, on lot septic planning and design since March 15, 1993, when the ASTM first issued its Standard for conducting these studies.

The purpose of the Phase I Environmental Assessment is to conduct an appropriate inquiry into the present and previous ownership and uses of the subject property consistent with good commercial and customary practices. The goal of the inquiry is to identify recognized environmental conditions. The term recognized environmental condition is defined by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) as the presence or likely presence of any hazardous substances or petroleum products on the property under conditions that would indicate an existing release, a past release, or a material threat of a release of such hazardous substances or petroleum products into structures on the property, or into the ground, groundwater, or surfaces of the property.
